    Default Wheeler lake (Decatur)

Went back to Decatur last Wednesday and Thursday for 3 hours each day. Fishing live shad around the barge tie offs again with great results. Caught 20 plus fish each day with a 5 3/4 small mouth on Wednesday and a 5 on Thursday. Had several 3 plus and some 3 1/2 plus spots. also caught some catfish and a crappie in the mix. Wednesday the wind was brutal out of the west with current pushing against it. Had to get on the east side of the tie off and tie to it. I fished inside the boat harbor for a while on Wednesday looking for some crappie but only had 1 bass to show for it. The water level is dropping fast so I hope the fishing holds out for a while longer.

Nice fish. Are you using a cast net to catch the shad?

Thanks, I bought a cast net a few months ago and have not used it yet. Me and my son had sort of the same luck Thursday before last I went in the boat harbor with some minnows for crappie dnd did not do any good, but picked up a few bass out on the river channel edge.
