Can't beat that invite!
I'm going to make a trip back to the Moulton New City Lake tomorrow morning. I hope to get a few gills and keep a limit of Crappie for the freezer. Open invite for anyone with a kayak, canoe or john boat and trolling motor to meet me on the water, maybe share a few ideas and tips.
Can't beat that invite!
Wish I could have made it, looking for a new ride with a better seat (bad back). I hope to be back on the water in the next couple of weeks with an improved ride. Good luck.

Tougher day, fish moved. I finally found a few mid day along the top of some grass in about 18 to 20 feet of water. This was the first time I tried spider rigging that deep, but it worked out. I kept a limit for the freezer and returned another dozen or so that were short. Also no slabs today. The gills were a little slow also, but I caught a few including keeping a dozen that were 10 inches or better. Best bait for the Crappie was a 1/8oz White marabou jig. The gills came on a 1/32oz jig head with a 1" slider grub. Most of the larger gills came out of about 15 feet of water.
The water was clear with visibility of about 6 feet and 75 degrees at daylight.

Nice job Ditch. Spider rigging that deep has to be tough when you get a fish on with that much line out they could tangle everything up. Did you use 6 rods? Nice job as always and thanks for the report.
Started with 6 rods, dropped to 4. Every time I hooked a fish it was a mess. Interesting though, LOL.
I think I like my skinny water spider rigging better, but nice to try something new.
Good job figuring them out nice mess!
You did GOOD. I was wondering what color slider grub did you catch the gills on?

Chartreuse with an Orange Tail, best color I've found for the Shellcrackers.
