Welcome to c.c great folks here with lots info! I fish Guntersvill mostly so can't help ya on smith.
Hey y'all. I'm new here from cullman. I just moved up here and just started to fish smith lake. Have any of you all seen the new fish advisory? It says don't eat the fish. I think its only largemouth but I'm not sure. I'm still gonna fish on. Do any of y'all know of any places on smith that are good to fish off of bank? I don't have a boat and I'm not too sure on taking a kayak on the lake. Lol

Welcome, there's a couple of guys that fish Smith and I'm sure they will chime in soon. As for the advisory it's on most lakes in the south east. I would not give it a second thought myself. There's plenty of things that will kill you out there.

Welcome to the site!! Check the threads, there are a few for Smith.
Welcome Matt, you might try around the state park. You can fish around the bridges at Guntersville. Good luck Matt.
Watch out for snakes!! The fish advisory is mainly for the BASS. Go to al.com and search the articles for it. They have a list of the lakes and the fish.
Does anyone fish Catoma Lake if so any luck now I need to take my Grandkids?

Smith will be pretty tough from the bank, its mostly rough terrain getting to the water unless its someones back yard. Smith lake park on cullman side has a fishing pier that used to have an underwater light right under the edge of it, should be about as good as any bank fishing around the lake. The creek channel runs pretty close to it within casting distance of the pier, there are also flats that are within casting distance. Also Arrowhead landing in Crane hill has a nice park, but it is mostly shallow flats that you would be able to reach from the bank. Arrowhead landing is way up Crooked Creek and would be a great place to fish from a kayak. Good Luck!
