Great report Bob, they be set up and waiting for you soon.
Got all the cranks out and gave the Big G a go yesterday with nothing to show for the effort but a ton of stripe. The water temp was 76 and I fished from 15-25 FOW. Looks like the fish have not set up on their summer haunts yet. Marked a lot o fish suspended at 10', could have been a thermal cline they were hanging on but could not get a bite. The stripe were more than happy to keep me busy though. Grass was not too bad, but I wanted to take advantage of the low wind for the day. Tried to shoot a few docks and talked to one guy tied up under the 69 bridge and he only had 3 crappie for the morning. Guess it'll be rough until they get out deep and will hit the cranks. Not as any bait balls in the areas I was in either.
chuckster thanked you for this post

Watch for the water temperature to hit 80° for at least a week on the big G My late fishing buddy and Ialways started when it had been around 80 or better for a week ,usually around the end of the first week in June. The excess rain has kept the water temps down IMO but has led to better than average bridge and bank fishing this spring
Bob. Thanks for the great report. Glad you were able to get on the water. That's the best part. Catching will come soon.

i was just thinking the other day, its about time to get the cranks out! Ill wait another week or so. Thanks for the report Bob!
Glad you was able to get out for a bit. Good report
Bob have you ever try pulling cranks a little shallower? Maybe pull 200s in the back of the creeks or the grass lines. I've never pulled cranks just trying to thing out side the box. Glad you got to go even if the fishing was bad it's better than work.

So I did try some shallow water as well. Just shortened up the amount of line out to stay off the bottom. The real challenge is the grass is getting up and it's hard to keep the cranks running correctly. Those new baits work awesome and the wiggle wart really keeps that rod tip bouncing!!! You've got some water down your way Glen that should be good for this technique with the white crappie.
Bob I don't believe we have many white crappie in the lakes I fish. I don't catch a hand full every year i know I few people that have pulled cranks on Logan Martin and Neely Henry with almost no luck.
