Default Crappie Rodeo on Weiss Lake...

The guys and I are making our way to Weiss in April and one of the guys got wind of this "crappie rodeo", has anyone ever caught one of the tagged crappie? We are all going to participate in the rodeo if nothing else to help support that great fishery.

I caught one about 5 years ago. We took a 3 day trip to Weiss and when I got home and started cleaning the fish we caught on the last day I noticed a tag behind the dorsal fin. I called and they said it was worth $100.00. I did not enter the rodeo but I was just curious what it was worth. Check the fish because we had no idea we caught it before I put the knife to them.

Thanks! WOW $100 crappie, that would be cool. I did read that the fish needs to be alive when you check it in at one of the official locations.

Don't know as I have not kept up with it for several years but to the best of my memory there were fish tagged for more than 100 dollars. I think its worth the money taking a chance on catching a tagged fish.

Question: How much is the entry fee/crappie badge? I looked on the website and could not find the pricing.
