Very nice pics good report !thanks
Had a great day on the water...albeit flying solo without my son today. Had the pleasure of meeting and spending some time with YaBoyMaxWeezy on Cotaco Creek. Started with a few quick casts in Indian Creek before heading to Cotaco. Immediately caught an 8-9" Bass. A few minutes later I hooked and landed a 4lb channel cat. Tried to give it to two gentlemen who just launched from the Triana boat launch. Guess what? Yep...I dropped the channel cat in between the boats while trying to hand it over. Totally my fault.
Headed to Cotaco. Stopped for a great sunrise picture. Once in Cotaco, the work started. The Crappie weren't biting. I tried all my tricks deep in the laydowns and underwater structure. Even used my double rig with two baits. I ended up with 14 Black Crappie with big fish being bit over 12". Most were 10-11" with a few that would not measure. Bite was extremely subtle...they made you work for them today. My go to bait, as usual, was BG monkey milk...although I tried a number of flavors. There was no pattern today. Water was stained and 73 degrees. No current and no wind. All in all, an excellent day, because it was fishing. All catch and release, except the channel cat I was trying to give away...oops.

Good report, thanks for the pictures
Every day is a holiday and every meal is a picnic.
Nice Spaceman - thanks for posting up the report.
Can I venture a guess that you worked) at AMC in Huntsville?
I'm retired USAF and work as a DAC at Fort Rucker
John D. Spent 29 years in the Army. Retired from the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command. Worked with the Aviation Center of Excellence folks at Fort Rucker. I have much respect for the USAF. My Dad was a B52 guy. He flew all C and D models produced. Interestingly, he flew the B52 on display at the USS Alabama park.

Thanks for the report I'm gonna try to hit Cotaco Sunday if at all possible
Thanks for the report. Looks like a good day on the water.
It was great meeting Spaceman - super nice guy and very knowledgeable ab fishing. We finished with a handful of fish - all catch and release.
Like Spaceman said the bite was very soft and fish were very scattered. There was zero current and the fish haven't really moved into the creeks yet.....hope things get better in the upcoming weeks!
Great report Spaceman!! Once they drop the water level in Wheeler, it should help a lot on the bite for Cotaco. No current makes that place real tough.
Bob...Not much room to drop Wheeler much more...maybe another 1 - 1.5 feet. Might be tough this winter if we don't get some solid rain so TVA can push/pull water at the dams. We might end up with many trips where there is no to little current. I am really looking forward to more temperature drop. Forgot to mention - not many bait balls at all in either Cotaco or Indian Creek.
