Default Wheeler Report, Flint and Limestone 25 Mar

Met an old friend for a morning on the water. We launched out of the marina on Hwy 31 and ran upriver to Flint creek. Tried float and fly around some brush piles but no go. Saw two guys in a 18' flat-bottom with corks all around them and they were consistently pulling fish in. So we rigged a bunch of poles and gave that a shot. Only one nice white crappie. Decided to move up to Limestone creek and try that. Float and fly around stumps and brush and only managed another 4 nice white crappie. Water temp was 58 when we started at 0645 and only got up to 59.5 when we left at 1230. Water in Flint was cleaner than I thought it would be and not too stained. Limestone on the other hand was pretty brown from the rain and wind action. Wind was terrible it was booting at a solid 10+ mph and made it really tough to do anything but float and fly and spider rigging. Fish had that spawning smell to them and left a coat of gunk in the livewell.

Bob if those two guys were fishing near the mouth of Flint creek and the entrance of the Suzy hole they were two of my friends and they ended up with 49 between the two of them, fish in that area and like they was doing and you should rack up.That area has a lot of stumpy flats and thats where they should be.
