Congratulations on a great morning. A couple of weeks ago I started catch some males on the banks I knew it would be soon.
Got to where I was gonna start long lining at 5:30. Normally this time of year I get there early and cast to structure until it's light enough To see my rods. After about 15 minutes looked light enough to troll so I started setting up and it was a all out brawl between me and the crappie for about thirty minutes. I was catching them all most non stop for about 45 minutes. I had 10 crappie flopping around on my floor board waiting to go in the live well before I could even get my 6th pole in the water. When the sun came up it got slower, by 7:30 the wind came out of no where and I pretty much lost control of the boat, but I had 25 crappie by then. What a wild 90 minutes. Faught the wind for another hour and gave up!
Water temp was 63, caught them in 8ft of water just outside an area where they spawn. I think some are done and some are spawning now. I caught some huge females with bellys that were almost saggy from the huge egg sacks that were there. Most had a few eggs left but they were loose and soggy. And a lot had there fins and tails all torn up. Jig color was black and chartreuse and Popsicle.
Don't know what the deal is with this wind. Every time I've been this year I've had to deal with the wind. Need some off days with no wind PLEASE! Think I'm gonna go Thursday then put the long lining stuff away and fish structure and bass fish until the summer blaze gets here.
Anyway had a awesome 90 minutes. Type of morning that makes you love long lining.

Good report. Right now it seems like they are biting only in the early morning hours. I planned to go tomorrow but they are calling for windy conditions in the morning. I will probably chase green carp tomorrow.
Great report! Had a friend down there last week and had 2 banner days, he sent me pic's there are some BIG fish in that lake!

Congrats on a good time. Was going to go but the wind had already started when I got ready so I stayed home.
