    Default Elk River

Has anyone been doing any good on the elk river. We've never fished it and my son is going Friday. Not asking for any honey holes just wondering if anybody is catching any.

Elk river and anderson creek has been bad for me this year. Started fishing in the fall, caught a few but the last couple months have been nothing. Reports from Elk river mills have not been good. Have not fished the mouth of elk but there are very few trailers at the ramp at Lee High on 72. Talked with folks spider rigging and they are not doing anything and very few of them out. Wish I could tell you something better.

Its the same on the other Western creeks along the Tennessee River. Shoals is dead as well. A few being caught up by Happy Hollow. High water and lots of current shut down the January bite for me. Lets hope things improve in the coming weeks.

I live 5 minutes from Big Creek and I can't help ya I would if I could tho. If I just had to fish it I would focus on Anderson Creek and spider rig just inside the mouth and maybe try the boat houses. If you venture out know that you can get in a lot of bad water UP from Anderson. I have fished it all my life and I have learned not to run the Elk in low pool.

Thanks for the responses. My son has been working up that way for about a year and has been wanting to fish it the whole time. Maybe he should wait a few weeks. Thanks again!

The same goes for me, not much luck. I Have fished 1st creek , 2nd creek, Spring, creek , Anderson creek, and Spring creek. And Blue water. Not sure where the fish are but but they haven't been where Ive been on the same day. Fished Anderson Creek two weeks ago with no luck. Couple guys there said they hadnt caught a crappie all year . They were fishing for cats.

Same deal here.... Only a few but they were at the mouth of elk. In my log I have a consistency between buttercups and elks bite whether it's Anderson..sportsman's park or Stewart hollow. No buttercups yet..

He went Friday, fished most of the morning with no luck. When he went back to the ramp he talked to two gentlemen in a Tracker that let him follow them in to Anderson creek where he was able to catch a few. I thought it was awful nice of them to show him the way. Probably CDC members!
