Good mess of fish looks like you hammered em again!
I fished Cotaco Creek today putting in at Sharps Ford. I met a couple Crappie.com members early, including a couple guys that gave me the three Crappie they had in their livewell when they decided to call it a day. It was a slow day just like my last trip a couple weeks ago, but I still finished the day with a limit. I put back a half dozen keepers after I limited out and about two dozen short fish through the day. Single pole on laydowns and submerged brush. Best bait early was a Chartreuse Bobby Garland on a 1/16oz jig head. Around noon the fish shut down and I tried several different things before finally starting to picking up fish again on a 1/16oz white Marabou jig. I also put back two 16 inch Crappie early, I hope to catch them again one day. The water was 52 degrees with visibility of about three feet. Water is still a couple feet higher then normal winter low pool level.

You smoked us at a rate of about 3 to 1. When we were stopped by the game warden he was actually talking about your fish. Overall it was a really good trip. Glad we got to meet you. Cotaco was an appreciated tip from a good friend and a C.C member as well. Great community here.
Thanks

Boy Howdy that there is a fine days fishing
Every day is a holiday and every meal is a picnic.
Way to go DB!! Love that creek, it'll be interesting to see how long it takes to come back into shape with all this rain again.
All that rain on those mud flats in the sloughs, it's be muddy for a couple weeks.
I'm going to be looking for clear water to fish again this weekend.
Bob D, The plus is if Wheeler fills to full pool (556) with the warm weather, Crappie will begin to move into the creeks and sloughs almost like they do in the spring to spawn. Falling water back to winter pool (551) will force those fish in to the deeps holes and remaining water until colder water forces them out all together. I may get another round of catching some skinny water Crappie in a couple weeks!
