Im catching tons of shorts this year, far more than any year previous. Its a good sign of things to come. I fish mainly on Wilson Lake on the Tennessee river.

saw that on Gville a couple of years back. Particularly in the Scottsboro area. There seem to be decent numbers of small fish in Mink Creek and Honeycomb Creek too. Lots of folks complained about the spawn the last couple of years including myself. could be we just missed the timing of it and it happened later than most years.....

I think the advantage of larger lake systems like the Big G and Wheeler is there are areas where the spawn is successful every year. Those fry then spread out through the system. I have noticed a huge amount of 6 to 8 inch Black Crappie in the backwaters this year. There should be plenty of 10 inch eaters next spring.

What ditch said. I will add the weather has a lot to do with it. The water had taken longer to cool off and the big fish are late to move up.
