    Default Another Neely Henry Report

The wife and I went for a while this morning but the wind kept us from fishing where we would have liked. We fished from 6:00 till 10:30. The water temp was 80. We ended up with 27 crappie and 7 bass and 3 small stripe. Almost all the crappie were keepers and had several over 1 pound. They were caught on minnows and every color jig we tried.

Sounds like a good trip. The wind has been bad lately.

Sorry about no pics but it just seemed like an ordinary day, nothing special, so we never took any pics. Here is one from a couple of weeks ago.Name: 150530_001.jpg

Bread man you will need to take Hwy 59 N to Ashville if you want to fish the lower end of the lake or go farther north to the Attalla Hwy 77 exit and turn right to go to the middle of the lake. There is a free launch where Hwy 77 crosses the river called Rainbow Landing. I usually fish the lower end of the lake but many folks fish other areas. From the launch at Rainbow Landing it is only a 10-15 min boat ride down river to Canoe Creek which is the largest creek feeding the lake. You can find fish somewhere in Canoe Creek any day of the year. I look for drop offs on creek channels and river channels and look for cover on those and fish them most of the year. You may find them anywhere from 8-25 feet deep. Give me a shout if you come and I may see you there. I fish from a dark green Ranger and will probably be spider rigging.
