    Default Guntersville

So, what is the forecast for Guntersville this spring? I hired a guide last spring and caught maybe 5 crappie that day. Had a terrible week. Part of that was cause we were fishing right after a flood though. The guide claimed the lack of grass messed most fishermen up. That the fish were not in their usual spots. What's your thoughts?

I think it will be about the same as last year since we are having another colder than normal winter. We are on par to set a record for the coldest Feb on record. The grass will take another hit the next 2 days with the temps going to single digits again like it did back in Dec this year. Last year we had 2 single digit events and after the second one the fish never did seem to go into their old patterns.I hope that's not the case this year but it may be. Right now the fishing was about average for bank fishing before this cold snap , haven't been this week yet so don't know how they have been effected. Wasnt for the wind id give it a shot HA

I went to Guntersville last spring expecting to mop up. Like many I know who makes the trip didn't do that great. I think between the loss of the grass and the crazy weather was the factors working against the fishing last year.

The last two years were tough for me and I had never had it that tough in 25 years. When are you planning on fishing this spring?

either lake should be good at that time. The past couple of years guntersville has turned on a little later than Weiss. This Global warming, caused by George Bush, Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, are going to dictate when the fish move up. Last year I did good at Guntersville in April. Did Better at Weiss in March. Year before killed em at gville in late march. weather determines all. I live on Weiss its 33 now and there is not a real warming trend in sight. Last week I was fired up thought it would be on by first of march. Dont have a clue know. Just hope it will warm up

I actually liked the way Gville fished this past Spring. The fish did not abandon the lake due to the lack of grass. They adapted a little and made the best of it. When you could find the areas the grass was growing at the right time, it was outstanding. Our fish catch numbers were pretty good for the Spring. Now our summer crankbait bite went down drastically due to the water not getting as hot as normal. There were still fish to be caught, we just never really got the summer bite figured out.

x2 on the spring numbers. couldn't never get crankbait pattern either so I started spiderrigging river channel and did very well.
