Get a map and launch where you are going to fish. I couldn't get any help on here one year so when I got to the place I was staying, I unhooked my trailer and took a road trip around the lake. If the crappie are there, the boats will USUALLY be there as well. I figured out where all the boats where at different areas of the lake and that is how I began my search. Ended up wearing the fish out. Last years trip was awful. I hired a guide too and only caught 4 or 5 crappie.

If the fishing was like last year, go to weiss. I'm going to keep up with the reports and make my decision on where I'm going based on how the fish are doing. If you go to weiss, Neely Henry is only about a half hour drive. So, you have close access to two good crappie lakes. I like guntersville bc I mix up the crappie fishing with a little green carp fishing. My 10 year old likes love to green carp fish. Gets that from his mothers side. I quit bass before he was born and have spent a small fortune buying up bass gear so I can take him.

Goose Pond has rentals with docks, you should not have to go to far for the crappie. I know for sure the docks are holding fish if you decide to stay in the Scotsboro area.

Scottsboro area is good that time of year and so is the Brown's Creek area. Lots of campgrounds around both areas. Long lining in both those areas is great in March/early Apr.
