    Default Neely henry report 3/31/2014

Fished Neely Henry yesterday and caught 57 crappie. Most were small. In a couple of years we should have lots of good keeper sized fish. Only kept 12 for those of you who worry about such things. The water temps I saw were 56-60. I figure the spawn will happen later this week. A few spots the water was still a little stained due to recent rain but overall it looked good. I did not catch any fish shallow, most were in water about 8-10 feet. Saw a lot more folks on the water than you would think for a Monday. The parking lots looked like they do on a Saturday. Saw a lot of folks from Kentucky. Hope to try again later in the week.

Good report Roger. I got into them thick as thieves Sunday afternoon at Logan in the 30-45 minute period before dark. Most fish were 10" but caught a big girl that went 2.33 Threw her back to bring the next generation. We should have a good crop of nice fish in the next couple of years. Tried cork and jig around the banks but it doesn't appear that they are up running that close yet. Water temps were 57 - 60 degrees. All fish cam out of 10-18 F.O.W. long lining 1/32 jigs. All colors seemed work.

Went again today 4/2/2014. Water temps 59-66. Caught 20 crappie but only 4 legal fish. They have moved out of the areas I caught them Monday and I am sure they moved shallow to spawn. Not too much on fishing real shallow and wind was bad so loaded up and left them to do their thing.

Hope it gets better for the 12th. Me and Ethan slipped up to Logan again yesterday afternoon and the water was four degrees warmer than Sunday (60 - 64). They had definitely moved up to skinnier water. Sunday they were in 12 - 18 F.O.W. and yesterday they were in 8 - 10 F.O.W. We caught around 20 total but only kept 9 for a meal. Not a big fan of running the thin water either but tried to go where they were. Love is in the air or should I say water.

Thanks for the reports, going tomorrow, expecting to find them shallow. Same here on shallow water, hope to find some hanging out in that transition zone.
