    Default Flint Creek Wheeler Lake

Been fishing flint creek on wheeler, been having mixed results the last month or so. Some days been catching a limit or close to a limit and others only catching a few. Probably the last couple times out one time had 29, the very next day only caught 5. then caught 37 and the next day 8. they have been hard to figure out with the water going up and down like it has been with the rain we have been getting. About the time the creek color and level gets just right, it will rain and jump to the tops of the banks and will be messed up again for a week or so. They have been anywhere from 10" to 5-6' deep. Like always i cast jigs only no minnows.

4586 have you been down in the mouth of the creek or up on 31? I've been hitting it around 31 and it is fair but inconsistent for sure. Would imagine minnows or shiners down on the flats by Mallard Park would be good from a boat.

I fish from 31 almost all of the time. I went Friday morning after working off from my night shift rotation only scratching out 4 and several stripe again, then went back Saturday morning and only caught 1 crappie with a dozen or more stripe, it was tough. Talked to several minnow fisherman and they were doing pretty good though. Just got home from smith lake it was also slow, no crappie but did catch some nice stripe, had one around 13-15 lbs. Ill get me nap and hit flint again tomorrow evening, maybe they will act a little better for me

Might want to try a float and fly in there. That works real good too. That is the way I fish the trees in Cataco just up river from the Flint but a lot alike.

I went to Hartselle to get my taxes done today and Flint Creek was covered up with boats....tons of trailers at the boat ramp.....for me it is back to work....I have only had one day off in the last 3 weeks....Guys keep the post and pictures coming. Hopefully by mid April things will slow at work. Prater are you originally from Danville?

I've been to Flint twice in the last 3 weeks. Kept 15 first trip and 14 this past Saturday. Been catching mine on a jig under a float or just casting a jig around tree tops. Size hasn't been what it was last year but have heard some say they caught some good fish earlier this year. Water fluctuating has had things messed up down there.

Yea I throw jigs under a cork a good bit of the time also and if they are pulling too much water to cast jigs around trees. Here lately I've been having to throw 5-10yds up the creek from the tree top I was wanting to get my jig down through. TVA has been letting it rip for sure
