have any idea what the water temp. was?
Only caught 3 crappie today and 1 bass. Mapped a lot of fish but could not seem to get them to bite. I have grown up long lining but today's trip made me want to try minnow fishing or casting since I had marked the fish. Is there anyone else out ther that long lines primarily, but sometimes breaks out the minnows? What do you guys look for when minnow fishing? Suggestions for when to minnow fish and when to longline? General consensus today around waterloo was that in 2 weeks we will be in the thick of them.

LCM....same story on 2nd creek on the east end of Lauderdale co. I saw fish but couldn't entice em long lining.
I switch over if I find em in a very specific spot or if I shoot docks. I minnow fish the bridge pilings and brush tops I've sunk all the time. Either Kentucky rig or slip knots.
If I see fish in 30+ right on the bottom I switch to pushing a ky rig but this year none of my tricks have worked
Started out at something lik 49.7 and got up to 50 and some change by the time we left at 2.

I've been long lining and catching fish and I'm seeing no fish on depth finder. If I get near shad I don't catch anything. I just keep going from place to place trying all depths, if nothing leave and go to another spot. Last three days caught fish in one area, yet there is an area very similar 500 yards away and nothing.
I don't always mark fish and structure when I am fishing but yesterday I did. I was noticing tha of all the waypoints I've marked over the years in 2nd creek 80 percent are in about a 200yd square. Not that we haven't caught fish in other areas its just that it seems like the fish are stsying around one spot year after year and I was thinking longlining might not be my best bet especially since the fish seemed to be grouped up right now. Hopefully I'll get back after them one day this week.
