Default Did it again. News Year limit, best week of crappie fishing ever for me!

Took the neighbor today and yes we caught 60! I'm on an unbelievable streak. Thats 4 days in a row (Fri, Mon - Wed) with a limit. Today we caught 60 between 7am and 1pm.

He has never been long lining before (mostly bass fishes) and he loves it now. They were in 9 to 16 feet of water in a small cove just off the main channel. Speed was between .8 and 1mph, not a lot of shad but a little scattered about. Best colors were black and chartreuse and light/dark green. A 1/16 oz orange jig head was by far the best color to use. Bite was pretty steady the whole time unlike yesterday where after 10 was best. Glad the rains coming I need a break and I have major fish thumbs! Oh and I did lose a pole and reel today he got hung up in a turn and didn't have it in the rod holder all the way. Oh well!

I have done the "lost a rod /reel". I placed some pipe insulation on my rods. If they come out of the holders I can come back and pick them up since the pipe insulation will float them. Greta catch again....I see a major fish fry in the future!

Took all of my new found knowledge today from USAFRET99 and did relatively well. Caught (7) nice 12-13" crappie long lining as well as 13 bass. Caught my fish in 15-20 F.O.W. and used 1/16 orange head and black body w/chartreuse curly tail. Still looking for that magical cove that produces a double limit. Fished from 11:30 till 4:00. Great day to b on the water. Thanks again for all who contributed helpful information on long lining.

Great job pw1. Just keep trying. The more you do it and the more places you try the better you will get year after year. Took me a year of trying and watching others before I learned a little about Logan Martin and still have a lot to learn. I have my bad days just like everyone else. That's what makes the good days even better.

Looks like the weather is really going to give you a good break over the next few days. If you get up around Weiss let me know and I'll show you all the landings and let you know where to catch the stripers.
