They say get the biggest screen that you can afford. That doesn't apply to a kayak. That 8 inch screen is almost too big! But once you get used to using that SI technology, it is hard to go back, even on a kayak. I use a little 8aH battery to run it. It is mounted on the bottom center of the dashboard.

And yes, the electronics cost more than the boat!

Cool rig, Call shy is the man for rod holders for we have some he made for our longlining express but he fails to give you the exact location to put them to good use (grin).Again great set up and once you get use to the locator screen and all it is hard to change.

Thats a good looking yak, what model is it and how do you like it? I am looking to get a sit on top fishing yak sometime next year. I want to get something worthwhile and sturdy (also I would love to be able to put my rods in a compartment that goes the length of the kayak), but i don't want to get a top of the line model. I've really only fished out of a jackson coosa, and I liked it, but don't want to spend that much money on one.

Darrell, I like to keep all my fish alive and cull at the end of the trip. As you know, I don't keep everything I catch but only a meal or two when I do decide to keep them. So, right now I'm using a floating wire basket to keep them in. I tie it to the kayak.
Its definitely not like the triton where I can keep the 12 inch and bigger fish away from the shorter fish.
