Nice catch. Cut my teeth in that area 40 + years ago. Still great fishing there. Some of the deepest water in the lake is around there and I still think the lake records in just about all species of fish are swimming around in honeycomb/whitaker or nearby. I don't fish there much anymore, but I know last year and the year before there were a lot of spots in the winter where there would be nobody around at all. Right around where you're fishing everyone would bounce crappie rigs off the channel and just drift. It was right about the time trolling motors were first coming out and the sonar depth finders (flashers) were the best because the digitals would fog up.

Oh, and it's good you stayed under the limit. Sometimes the hardest thing is keeping count, but that's a good problem to have. I went Saturday for a rare weekend trip and there were 2 game wardens checking everybody, duck hunters and fishermen at the dock I was at. It was good to see them out.
