Thread: new fish in Weiss ?

Back in the 1950's & 1960's the trot line fishermen used goldfish a lot ( was legal then ). The TVA lakes had quite a few big goldfish in them. We shot quite a few bow fishing. They were easy to see in muddy water too. Mercury outboard oil came in an orangey container. Shot several of those in muddy water as well.

It is legal to use goldfish as bait in Alabama, I asked one of the fisheries guys to find out. I caught one last year on Logan Martin that weighed about 4 lbs. but it was the gold color instead of orange. A friend said they used to catch them out of Weiss many years ago and called them golden carp.
