Default Limestone Bay and Bigeye Pond

I wanted to fish close to my truck with rain threatening this morning. I started fishing some holes on the north end of Limestone Bay and caught 50 or 60 Crappie total, 10 that measured. I moved on to Bigeye pond in the Rockhouse dewatering area. Found another dozen or so there, but only added one to my total. Challenging morning with everything muddy and the off and on showers, but got enough for dinner anyway. All caught in three feet or less of water on 1/16 oz Chartreuse Marabou jigs.

Good mess of fish, and a little mix going on there too.

My wife and son like catfish. I don't care to fish for them, but catch enough by accident jigging for Crappie to keep them happy. It seems I always get a mix of Black and White Crappie. One of those things that happens when spider rigging in shallow water. It seems Black Crappie like the shallow back water more, but the White Crappie are more likely to be suspended in open water. I of course won't bore you with the gar, mud fish, bass and gill I caught also.

    BensGoneFishing,

We'll have to link up an hit the other side of the levee before they fill it back up. It will be tight in a flat bottom, but workable. You'll love the big slabs hiding over there!
