Default Catching 14 inch Crappie in my kayak

Work and travel has kept my busy for the last two or three weeks, but I squeezed in a few hours this afternoon to chase a few Crappie. It took me an hour or so to get on a pattern, but found them scattered on a flat in 6 to 7 feet of water. Typical setup, found the shad and the Crappie were there. I was spider rigging 5 rods with Chartreuse, 1/16 oz, marabou jigs down 4 to 5 feet. Fished a couple of hours before my daughter called sick and I had to leave. Kept 15 and was working quickly towards a limit when I had to leave them biting. Smallest kept was 10 inches, had 4 that were 14 inches.

Plan to meet up with Z-man in the morning and show him one of my favorite areas.

I was just looking at my facebook page and saw where someone in my town has been posting pictures of some fish he has been catching. Several 16 inch crappie lately and an 18 inch fish. I do not know him but sure would like to know where he is fishing. I think it is close to the area I fish certain times of the year. He was in a small boat though where he could get out away from the banks and get to them.

Hey, Great mess of crappie. I have been looking at getting a kayak. I have checked out the sit on top and sit in and I plan to use it on the Gulf for redfish too. Do you have a prefernce or recommendation?
    Thanks
