Default What is going on at Weiss?

Where are all the reports from Weiss? What few reports I have seen have been bad. I am finally getting to go for the first time this year on Saturday. I'm trying to decide on going to the upper end of the lake or the lower end. The crappie have to be spawning by now with the water temps so high. Help!!

I've heard the upper end is producing larger fish, while the lower end producing tons of dunks

Dinks on upper end too. Fished every day last week and averaged 1 keeper for every 15 0r so dinks. fish are extremely shallow and gerring on wood. Spawn close for some and others a liitle while away. Better fish are under docks an at Guntersville

Sounds familiar olducker, I fished Mud Creek area on Sat 3/24. First fish we caught was an 11" keeper, but that was it. Caught a lot of fish, but all were small. I'm hoping things start getting better as we get closer to the full moon in early April.

I fished all day Saturday and Sunday for a combined total of about 10 keepers. Probably only caught 30-40 fish. Several stripers, catfish, and small largemouth. In several of the coves I visited I saw bass fishermen doing pretty good. When I trolled shallow we caught bass more than anything else. I don't know if it is just me or if Weiss is struggling, but I have always had success this time of year in the areas I fished. However this weekend was some of the worst fishing I have seen in my 10-15 years of fishing this lake. I didn't see that many boats either and I fished both ends of the lake. I keep telling myselft the torrential rain we had Thursday night was the culprit but I know better. As bad as my fishing was, I talked to two boats on Sunday who said that they didn't get one single bite! I didn't talk to anyone who was doing good.

The fish are starting to bite! Had 60 keepers yesterday and 33 keepers today, all trolling shallow water with Southern Pro Grubs. The larger fish have startred to move in and fishing will only get better for the next few days. GOOD FISHING, Terry
