I am bad to look and not take the time to post myself but really enjoy reading everyones post, pics, and etc. If your a lurker and not a member then join us and help us make the Bama board better.

I’ve been lurking for a while and decided to break in and say “Hi” to everyone. I moved to Huntsville in January of this year from Missouri after retiring from the Army. I started fishing from a kayak years ago while in Georgia (Ft Stewart). I couldn’t afford a large boat and wanted to get off the bank. I became hook quickly. If there was 2 inches of water, I could float a kayak and work around deeper areas that bank anglers couldn’t access. After a lifetime of Bass fishing I crossed to the dark side 4 years ago and started chasing Crappie. I always preferred eating Crappie over all other fish but could only catch them in the spring.
Now, I can catch Crappie any time, Deep, Shallow River or Lake. I still fish from a kayak and fish the North side of Lake Wheeler between Decatur and Huntsville. I drive a tan Nissan Xterra with a green kayak on top. If anyone from crappie.com sees me out say “hi”, we can swap tips and hot spots.
I spent a couple of hours, two weeks ago on the flats North of River Walk Marina paddling around looking for bait fish. I finally found the bait suspended 8 to 10 feet down in 12 to 15 feet of water just off the creek. I started dragging jigs about 9 feet deep and picking up 5 or 6 Crappie on every pass. After every 10 or 12 throw backs I’d get one keeper. Yes, my kayak has rod holder from spider rigging plus a depth finder.
