Hey ya'll, I have a nephew that is moving down your way from Ohio. He will be living/working in the Hoover and Bessemer area and looking for some good fishing places. I don't know if he will have access to a boat yet or not. He does fish for crappie some but mostly bass . Have you any recommendations as to where to go I can pass on to him? Thanks Bill

He'll be close to Oak Mountain State Park, and they have boat rentals if he doesn't have one.

    Alabama State Parks

There's also Lake Purdy that has boat rentals not too far from that area.

The Warrior River is on that side of town too.

Lay Lake and Lake Mitchell on the Coosa River will be south of him on I 65.

There's lots of places to fish around the Birmingham area.
