She sure looks like a happy camper :D
Nice fish
Took off work and fished every day mid-lake at Guntersville this week. Monday was tough. Water temp was still in the 40s, high winds and post-frontal conditions, but finally found some crappie deep, along with some 3-5 pound bass which made things interesting on ultralight. Tuesday, spring sprung for real and the water surface temps were high 50s to low 60s. By the end of the week, steady in the 60s. Tuesday I hit the spawning flats, but only found bass, catching nearly 40 largemouths on ultralight and no crappie. Wednesday, I took Uncle Leo fishing. Hello! We found the slab crappie in abundance, fishing the same area; they came in waves behind the bass into the spawning flats. We caught both bass and crappie – and a lot of them. We kept about a dozen slab crappie, letting most go. I cleaned the ones we kept for him and sent him home with a big bag of filets. Thursday, I took my littlest gal fishing from 9 until noon, she may only be 3, but she is a master with her snoopy rod and a 1/16 ounce jig. I’m amazed at how well those little rods work. She had a blast during our 3 hours on the lake and we brought home 7 big crappie for dinner and let the rest go. The crappie fishing had improved with this next warm day near 80 degrees outside. She landed a couple that were 16 inches, fighting one for about 5 minutes. Today, I fished again for about 4 hours and brought home 4 big crappie to give to a family member for Easter. The females seem to be staging in about 3-6 foot, but we did catch them as far in as 2 foot deep. Lots of stripe and brim hitting as well, along with those pesky largemouth bass, so the rod stays bent most of the time on the water. We used jigs for all our fish. One interesting note: On Thursday, my daughter and I switched from our favorite color to an old plastic grub that is no longer on the market. I had bought a bag with dust on it at Busters Bait Shop during the winter because I liked the way it looked like a real bait fish. A while back I saw a guy on this site begging if anyone knew where to get any more because he said he wore them out on them. Well, I put them on our setups to give them a try and after tossing into one area until they stopped biting. The crappie immediately turned back on and went wild. The different body style and color really made a difference. It really does look like a little threadfin shad. That’s all I got for now. I hope everyone has a super Easter Weekend. God Bless you and your families.

awesome
you gave your daughter memories that will last a lifetime. I took my daughter fishing with her grandfather when she was 4 and she caught 1 fish, a 2 lb shellcracker. She was so excited when we got back to the house she ran up to her grandmother and announced she had caught a big "skullcracker".
The world needs more folks like you. Several places in your post you were giving fish to friends and family. Your daughter will never forget this trip. I was down at Sloans in Vonore last week and watched another proud father with his daughter getting pictures took. She was 12 years old and had just killed her first turkey. My son was 14 when we lived in Colorado and I took him Elk hunting. 2 hours into the hunt he killed a big cow for which he had a tag. He has never forgot that trip.
Great report and it looks that you had a great week giving a wonderfull influece to many people, specially the little one, she will always remember that trip!!
LarryDavid, Nice report! Great pictures!!! Brings back old memories of my first fishing trip with my grandfather I to was 3, I am now 49 and still remember that day! What a day! I also remember when my daughter was 3 taking her fishing she loved it. Her Snoopy rod and reel got pulled in the water by a 2 lb catfish about 1 hr later I got hung up on her line and reeled in the rod and the fish was still on the line. She got the rod from me and reeled her fish in. She still remembers fishing with me she is 25 years old out of collage has her on house and getting married in June. They grow up so fast. I still have her snoopy rod and reel. Thanks for the memory's.
