Does anyone know of a stocked pond with Crappie in it around Shelby County? Lay Lake is done. Too hard to fish off the Piers when kids are jumping in the water. I think Lay Lake is over for me ...
I'm looking for a stocked pond or stocked lake.
I tried Bibb County Lake and that wasn't good.
Cooters Pond, Jackson Lake, Walter Bouldin Dam or across the bridge from the park in Wetumpka? These were all places suggested to me. I'm near Millbrook but I don't know much about fishing lol
Thanks for the reply. Well, I know in Montgomery there is a spot called, Pirtle's Puddle for $3 fish all day, but it's fished out. I know the owner.
I grew up on Cooter's Pond fishing with my granddad, but once he passed away I haven't been back. That was back in 1996. I don't have a boat right now. Walter Bouldin Dam has Alligators on the shore to watch out for. Lol. Last time I went there I had one creep up on me about 20 yards away.
There used to be a place in Prattvile (Autauga County) somewhere that you could pay $4 and they had nice clean ponds you could fish that were stocked.
I used to fly model airplanes at Doc Pirtle's. What about the Coosa River? Jackson Lake in Millbrook right across the toll bridge is $3 a day they filmed Big Fish there. I don't have a boat either lol Wife's family has a pond but I'm not allowed to bring guests.
I hope cross posting an article is okay. If not I'm sorry. Here's an article fishing Jordan Dam and southward.
Coosa River Description
I'm not a fly fisherman but it seems like a load of fun! Good luck!!
Maybe we could team up sometime and go try Jackson Lake. I'm Brian BTW. Inbox me if interested.
I have access to several farm ponds in central Alabama that are loaded with huge bass, big Bluegills and giant coppernose bluegills. One huge pond has lots of crappie in it too. If you want to go... simply PM me and we will make it happen. Come on fall...

I fished Cooters pond as a kid but don't recall a pier or if it had a decent bank, but the crappie fishing was good. I am going back to the 80s.... Would love to know how it is now.
If you have a boat, Pintlala Creek was good - just have to battle the snakes
