I know that most fisherman who have been fishing for any length of time have their story about being hooked by themselves, or someone else. For me, it was a fish — a fresh and strong trout that hooked me clean through my thumb, and it almost ended much worse than it did. It happened when I was alone, trolling for trout on a windy day,...

It was around noon on Thursday, and colt1888 is spot on with his assessment, the spillway has been lost. I'll add they also use cast nets and will get ticketed on a monday and be back again the next day doing it again. I'll also be waiting for the lake to clear up, maybe up river but doubt at this point there will be much going on there.

Look at Takeum jigs. I been using them for awhile. Get several trips and several hundred fish if I don't break one off.

One fella out of Louisiana tied me some pretty jigs pretty cheap back when ,not sure about how he tied em , but around 15 crappie and they were done every time I wet em … Around 50 fish is a decent average if you can keep trash fish off them . 100 or so ain’t bad and it’s likely possible it would have made 150 if the bass didn’t destroy it …. I...

The next day, I excitedly made the walk back to the spot of the previous day, but I was sad to see that I was beaten to the spot. There they all were, just like my “source” said — about 5, or 6, Asian “Crappie Masters” all reeling in fat ones. When I walked up on them, they quickly waved, and invited me to join them — so I greatly thanked...

Unfortunately most of the people at the spillway are not your ordinary working american type. They are a foreign nationality and some may not even be legal. They practically live there. Bring there entire family. Ive found strollers sitting there, diapers in the woods, and seen them playing/bathing in the creek there. They also keep every 4 inch...

Weather not the best with a east wind. Takeum jigs was responsible for a limit of 30 plus a few. Went out at 2 pm, could not stand sitting around the house this afternoon. That Ghost jig just keeps on putting the hurt on them. Boat flipping them with the Huckabee Stryker 11.5' jig pole, don't care for those heavy 13' poles anymore. Getting old and...

One day, as I was leaving the parking lot after fishing on the Crappie Dock, I stopped to talk to the attendant at the pay booth/inspection station. I asked her if anybody got any good fish that she knew of. She said, “You know, there was several Asian guys that I don’t know, that came out a few hours ago, and had some large crappie and...

Well be there same time frame. Went last year and caught lots of fish on main lake brush in 15-20’ mid lake. I looked at a mile of trees and never saw a crappie but brush and lay downs were loaded. Fun lake for sure!! We stay at Holly Park.

I fished Buckeye today, this is part of the Wheeler dewatering area North of Rockhouse. I kept half a limit and returned about the same number of larger fish. Little ones were everywhere. Started spider rigging about 24 to 30 inches deep in two to four feet of water. Wind quickly got too rough for spider rigging and changed to tossing a small...
