A few colorful dinks caught today .
A beautiful day forecasted . Sunny , upper 70’s , light winds .
When we arrived the water had just about cleared completely and was only slightly down from last week.
I took five combos to fish with and used four of them , but the two I used most were my 5’9” one weight Redington Butter Stick flyrod and my 5’6” Daiwa Iprimi XXUL paired with a Shimano Sahara 500 fe , spooled with Daiwa J Braid X8 and a 3# Floroclear leader.
The small gills and green sunfish have moved in shallow and provided a fun day of catching .
It was a 60+ fish day with the majority being dinks . But I was prepared for dinks .
When we reached our last fishing hole just after 3 pm I had caught 35 fish , my buddy had 20 catches .
I grabbed the flyrod and told my buddy I was going to make it to fifty catches by 3:30 , time to head home .
I beat my goal by 10 .
I was catching a small gill or green sunfish on almost every cast .
My bud caught several nice crappie in one spot we fished .
And I caught a good shellcracker, a nice bass , and a decent crappie to round out the total .
I loved getting the flyrod out . The one weight makes even the little ones fun , as does the Daiwa Iprimi .
The combo I caught most of the larger fish on was a 5 foot 13 Fishing Defy Silver ULF paired with a Shimano Sienna 500 .
Can’t wait to get back out there .
Beautiful colors on those dinks! Sure beats what I did today (mow grass). Thanks for sharing

Those are some pretty fish. I’m guessing the one with the neon stripes is a green sunfish? Your day was kinda like my yesterday. Lots of fish but not many big ones. I too was good with that. The redbreast I was catching fool me all the time, I think they’re bigger than they are. Glad to hear you had a good day.

That male gill in top section is sure sporting some incredible colors. I paint a lot of jigs in those colors trying to imitate bluegills and green sunfish. Bigger fish love to eat gills.
