I have a 22 year moldel spotlock terrova & like it fine. Most don't like the foot pedal so i were you if going minnkota i'd go with the ultrex. Personally i have no problem with the foot pedal & use it alone when bass fishing but use the pedal & remote both when crappie fishing.

If you run Garmin Electronics, I wouldn't know any reason not to go with their trolling motor.

I would(will) buy any of the three that were brushless in this order.

    1. Garmin Force- Because you already run Garmin and they are(appear) to be best in class.

    2. Lowrance Ghost- Because its not Minn Kota

    3. Minn Kota- Because you ran out of options.

I am hard on Minn Kota because I own a 2017 BT Terrova and also deal with robots and programming. Their logic is not very lack luster in todays times. My 16 daughter who hopes to be pharmacist can do better.

I have a Minn Kota Terrova 55# on my 18 ft tin. Love it. Works nice.

I went down the Rhodan road when they came out and got screwed. TM wouldn't work, even drove it down to them to check and fix...that repair lasted 3 hours. Then they got nasty when I asked for a replacement. Wife got tired of my complaining and told me to just get something that will work - get a Minn Kota.

After my exposure to the Rhodan boyz, any newer names have at least 5 years to prove themselves before I would trust them.

If you're running Garmin units, go with a Garmin trolling motor to take advantages of all the features. I went with a Ghost because I run Lowrance units and have been very pleased with my purchase. Whatever you purchase make sure it's brushless. My Ghost has 97lbs of thrust on 24 volts and the batteries last much longer than they did with the 80lb Fortrex it replaced.

Ultrex, Ultrex, ULTREX. That said, i've never run the lowrance or the garmin. Something to consider is do you want your TM to network with our graphs. If so, then you have to brand match (Humminbird/ultrex, Lowrance/Lowrance, Garmin/Garmin) If you don't care about that then I recommend the Ultrex strictly for the price. It's about $1000 cheaper than the other 2 if you don't get the "link" which is the bluetooth option. Spotlock is a GAMECHANGER! And if you're going to get livescope/FFS then spot lock is a must.

I’m very curious why do you say minn kota programming is lack luster?

That’s the one that I’ve been thinking about getting. Especially the smaller deck profile. Which size tm shaft did you get?
