Spawn has started ahead of the dogwoods in central Bama this year with this warm weather. I've heard the dogwoods blooming / crappie spawning all my life. If they blooming the spawn is on but that aint the spawn start

I've heard the same thing as well. I just go regardless.....when I can find the time (and here lately I try and make time for it ) I've never had a bad day searching honestly, it's time well spent on the water IMO. Although I do tell myself I'll figure this out to some extent lol...just would like to know the process and methods as well as my Grandpa did...he could always seem to put ya on em' (of course I was young). He still my idol when it comes to fishing and hopefully one day I am as good as he was. If not, hopefully I at least end up as an idol for my kiddos so they don't lose the fact that it can be done. One of these generations we will get it...if I pass along what I remember about fishing with him and what I've learned on my own then at some point it'll happen. If not, we got some memories and we'll have stories to tell...P.S. ...watch them fishing stories bc ya always just had to be there am I right? lol

Love, what more can I say
I've also heard red buds added to the dogwood bloom. So when the red buds and dog woods bloom the spawn is on. Like most on this thread seems it is getting earlier each year with the couple of good warm days we see, I think some of the fish go early. It's a long process dependent on cold fronts and sunny days to warm the shallows.

the dogwoods at my house have not bloomed and fish are being caught in two ft . of water . The clover bloom solid is a better indicator to me as far as fish on the bank "everywhere " , especially red ear .
