Great looking fish! Did you get a length on the shell crackers?

Itd been over a week since my buddy and I had met up to fish a little .
We met this morning around eleven, giving the weather time to warm up a little.
It was sunny and 59 , with a light breeze. A beautiful morning.
The lake had lost another foot or so . It was the lowest Id seen it in a long time .
Guess theyre still working on the dam.
I fished with one rod today for the four and a half hours we fished . My 63 Abu Garcia MB3 paired up with a Daiwa Fuego LT 1000d and 3# Floroclear.
I used my handtied jigs to catch 32 assortment of panfish I caught today .
My bud had a tough time today , bringing on three fish to hand .
Ive offered him some of my jigs today as before , but hes a little hard headed , and is determined to catch them on his lures .
I caught a couple of nice shellcrackers , that were the highlight of the day
If Id taken the biggest one to where ever I needed to have it verified, it would have qualified as a lake record .
According to what Ive read they just started keeping a record of largest caught different species last year and the record right now is 15oz .
Im sure both of mine were over a pound , with the bigger , closer to a pound and a half .
Biggest Ive caught out of this reservoir this year .
Caught some pretty hybrid redbreast and some green sunfish.
One tiny bass .

Nice catch! Thank#for the rid3 along. They sure looked chunky and healthy!

Those are all nice but the second pic looked like a dinner in himself alone! Very nice catch.
I have an idea to pass along and you brought up the subject. I’m thinking of putting a few four wrap accents on some of my rod and see how I like it. Maybe 8, 10, and 12” marks starting at the front of the grip. Dead on accuracy is t that important to us but knowing the pretty close size of one in a quick fashion might just be the ticket. I’ll let ya know how it works out.
And that weather sounds pretty. We’ve been low to mid 50’s in the mornings but warming up to the 70’s. Made it to 81 today. And yes, I’d much rather be fishing.

Those are some big redear, been a few years since I've caught anything that size and I'm a little jealous. Congrats on the catch and release. I release any redear over 10" but love to eat the 9" fish but even those are rare here lately.

Been wrapping marks on mine for about 30 years now skeet. Saves a lot of time whether used for curiosity or culling purposes. I go to to hardware stores and buy numbered wire/cable markers. That provides the mark and approximate length at a glance.
