Depends on the water body . Here our lakes have mostly under 10' with areas over 20 . I have caught fish in 6' of water in middle of winter .
Not sure if this is the correct place to post this. I've been crappie fishing for years but never tried fishing any later than November anyway this yr I've been making brush piles and stakebeds and they are producing my question is where would I need to place them for winter fishing crappie? I was thinking deep like 20ft plus but I don't know any ideas I'd appreciate it thanks in advance

8 FT-12 FT at winter pool is very productive until the water temp drops below 45, at least that's my experience. But sometimes they can still be good, especially on a sunny day.
