I knew that before I posted. I just meant as a source for tiny cheap artificial baits. They come like 8 to a rig for a couple of bucks or less, and some are kinda fancy.

    Default 8-20-23

I went micro chasing again this morning at Lake McIntosh.
    I took a couple of rods , my 6’3” Abu MB3 and a 5’6” St Croix Premier ULF2 .
The reels used were a KastKing Zephyr SFS 1000s and my Shimano Soare 500 XR sp, both with 2# Floroclear.
I started with the SC and KastKing combo and after a few fish , put the Soare 500 on the St Croix and stayed with that combo the rest of the morning. Great combo for the small ones and it casts tiny jigs better .
I used Trout Magnet heads some , but mostly used homemade jigs from flyhooks and tungsten beads .
The fly hook jigs outcast the TM mini jigheads .
Plastic baits were mini TM bodies and regular TM bodies with the first two rings cut off the front to make a smaller profile.
    I caught 34 total in a little over a couple hours .
Most were bluegills , but a few redears , a couple of warmouths and green sunfish got into the action l

    Some weren’t exactly micros .

I am maxed when I catch these lil fellers how scrappy they are. Remind me of the little engine that thought he could.

    Default Micro fishing 9-07-23

I fished Lake McIntosh this morning using my 5’6” St Croix Premier ULF2 paired up with a new Shimano Soare XR 500spg and 2# Floroclear..
Started out throwing a black Mini Trout Magnet on a Tungsten beaded size 12 streamer hook .
Took several casts before I caught a tiny gill . Less than 3” .
Fishing was slow . The water was down about a foot from evaporation, I believe , with all this heat , and no rain lately . And there was a film around the shoreline .
Temps this morning at 10:00 were already in the low eighties. But there was an occasional breeze that helped .
The other bait I fished was a black chenille hand tied jig on a streamer hook , with a tungsten bead and black rabbit fur tail . A simple jig that mimics a leach or possibly a small minnow.
I think I caught the majority on the hand tie , but it was fairly close between the two .
I only caught nine and all but one were what I call micros .
I enjoyed the rod combo a lot . A very lightweight fun combo to spend a couple hours chasing little gills .

    Default Biggest and smallest today

I caught nine warmouth and green sunfish this morning.
Here’s the biggest and the smallest warmouth, caught on a tiny hand tied streamer jig .
I hooked a couple that may have been smaller , but they did the aerial self release before I could get a hand on them .
