Congratulations on a fine mess. Glad you were able to get a replacement trolling motor battery. Your persistence paid off two fold. Thanks for sharing
For the last week & half I've been having issues with a new trolling motor battery that has hampered me from fishing. I finally figured out & convinced the store it was defective and received a new one yesterday.
Getting out during the week is difficult for me as I work second shift and commute an hour each way, but my wife has today off & can watch the dogs.
I hit the water on a central Montcalm Co lake a little after 4am, first baits out by 4:30am. Started catching fish & it was fairly consistent until the first rumble of thunder in the distance about 5:45am. That shut the fish down and with the amount of smoke in the air I wasn't able to see how far the storm was so packed it in for safety.
I waa able to put 11 in the cooler, lost a couple keepers & had a few throw backs.
Baits are pictured, most active was the Road Runner, followed by Sho Nuff then a couple on Electric Chicken.

Looks like you're getting the jig thing figured out. That's a nice mess for not being out very long. Same shoreline we fished a couple of weeks ago?

The north shore on the east end. The fish were in the 13' - 17'. If I moved shallower to tick the weeds, no bites. That lake the crappie like to night bite. We caught lightning in a bottle the day we went
If I can squeeze it in, I'll try the lake nearby on Saturday morning. Family coming from out of state for the long weekend.

Nice mess in short order! All the smoke from up north must have felt like Jerry and I were smoking cigars in the boat again...lol... Have a great time with the family!

Wish I was there. Nice mess. I use a similar bait to catch speckled trout in the marsh down here. Will dig a few out the box next time I get to go crappie hunting. So , last time I was there I ate Jerry's smoked crappie. Now you can catch them already smoked. Y'all be careful breathing that stuff. "D"
Nice catches

Work has been slow lately so I left yesterday at 7pm with the intent of sleeping early. I didn't get much extra sleep but did get baits in the water by 3:30am.
The crappie weren't very aggressive, had to continuously switch colors on the jigs. Finished with 15, lost enough to have made my 25 limit, but continued the learning process. Last one went in the cooler around 7am. It was a good morning of fishing!
That'll be it until after family is gone. Fish fry tomorrow
