Hardy is loaded to the brim with paper thin 6" to 7" crappie! In the 80's it was a good lake to crappie fish, now its a waste unless you want to take kids to keep them busy.
However it's a great bluegill lake while they are on the beds. Way in the back by Rooster ramp you can get into some good gills.
Catfishing is good especially at the dam.
A little belated, but we usually go up there almost every sunday. Bass is decent, nothing large, Crappie are not monsters, they are pretty thin, bluegills are good, white/hybrid stripers are great, and yellow bass have overpopulated the lake. Last year someone pulled the number 2 state record striper from hardy. High 20s/low30 lbs. Alot of the time there is a DNR guy up at the ramp before noon takin surveys on fish caught. He always says there are ppl that run the channel and get their limit of good size crappie, but ive never seen em.
There is def better lakes, but I dont think ive gone to Hardy and not caught anything. If all else fails, you can fill your livewell with yellow bass.
