Awesome! Looks like a good time. Thanks for sharing and hopefully we can hear the blue trash can story.
Our camp is a wrap for 2023. Good food, many laughs and good times on the water. Friday nights Liar's club kicked off the weekend. Spartannation smoked a great pork shoulder and everyone brought a dish to pass. A few stories were told and information shared as we got ready for Saturday and the opportunity to take Wilbur home this year.
We were honored to have "D", his wife Mae, his nephew John and wife up from Louisiana. Unfortunately, the weather in Michigan was pretty cool for our friends from the south and may have taken them by surprise. Slab sent up Tree tea oil pens for everyone but with the cold fortunately/unfortunately we didn't have any issues with bugs. But it's Michigan and it will be buggy before long. Thanks Slab.
As Saturday dawned, everyone headed out for our friendly 5 fish competition for the traveling trophy Wilbur.
I had the opportunity to get "D" in the boat with Spartannation and I. We had a lot of laughs and even caught a few fish. "D" even caught fish!
He also caught a nice yellow perch and some crappie
Danny definitely didn't come prepared for being on the water in the cold and there may be a blue trash can story out there for Sparty to share. After a day on the water everyone returned for a fish fry and potluck. Thanks Sparty for doing the frying and to everyone who brought all that wonderful food. After we ate we weighed fish.
Steel guy (John) became the keeper of Wilbur for the year.
Congrats John.
Even Danny weighed five fish!!
A quick thanks to Tonda for donating some beautiful pieces from her Etsy shop, Country Rock Creations given to the high placers in the contest.
Thanks to all who attended including first time attendees DWB Wayne, his wife Sandy and son Jason. Glad you made it and hope to see you and everyone else again next year!

Good time for sure. The weather was a little on the chilly side, the wind was a little stronger than predicted and the crappie were hard to find but, overall, it was another successful spring camp. Two thumbs up to John (steelguy) for being the first two time winner of the G.O.A.T. trophy. We always enjoy having royalty from out of state attend our camp but all the royalty was busy so we got "D". In all seriousness, having Danny in our boat was a blast and him, Mae, John and Deb are always welcome. Good to meet DWBs wife Nancy and his son. The food was great, thanks to everyone that brought the awesome additions to our meals. Also, thanks to everybody for not complaining about the home made fries. I didn't realize until later that the wrong pan of fries got set out, they had only been fried once ( I double fry them to make them crispy) and were cold and limp. Sorry about that. Thanks to Slab for the tea tree oil sticks and to Tonda for the cool prizes you donated.
The older I get the more I realize the therapeutic benefits of fishing

We folks from the south had a grand time. Enjoyed it all. The food was great, fishing was good and friendship was outstanding. This group are a great bunch to fellowship with. Enjoyed the old friends and making new friends. Congrats steelguy for winning Wilbur. Thanks Tonda for the cool gifts. Hope you put something on here referring a way for people to purchase some. As usual we had too much food, but what a great variety of delicious dishes(loved that salad). Thanks Jerry and Jeff for all you guys did. You put on an awesome, awesome event. And thanks for putting up with me, hope I gave good as I got. See you all down the road. Surprised no pictures of me wearing Jerry's blue coat. hahaha.
That's huge. Have not seen a Yellow Perch that big since the old old days fishing Montrose Harbor on Lake Michigan when I was a kid.
Great camp. Billbob and I were there in spirit.
Thanks again to Jerry and Jeff for putting on a very nice show, from organizing everything , cooking both Friday and Saturday, and keeping the laughs going the whole time!don’t know how Danny puts up with you two
Wanda and I had a lot of fun, nice seeing old faces and a few new ones
The michigan weather didn’t really help this year as it should have been a good bite for everyone in a normal year but due to the long cold spring the bite was tough to say the least!
Old school fishing with minnows 3 ft down on the edge of a sand flat worked for me , 4-5 ft of water with some scattered weeds
Thanks to Tonda for the cool crappie.com items
And everyone else that bought food and helped!
To much food as usual I am still stuffed.
Nice seeing the out of state people again
Danny, John and their wives.
I will be working on planning next year’s event soon
We talked about a few options Saturday
Thanks again to everyone that attended!
