Pretty colors on the little crappie. Good job
Picked up my older brother around noon today and took him to the WMA with a shooting range and a 195 acre lake and a small catfish pond they used for a kids day each year .
A 12” pipe connects the pond with the lake .
After we shot for a little while, I assembled my 5’6” St Croix Triumph travel rod and attached a Daiwa Fuego LT 1000 , spooled with 2# P-line .
The roadway between the pond and lake is a favorite spot of mine to fit around the drain pipe in the bigger lake .
I fished about forty five minutes with only a few short nibbles on my 1/64 trout magnet.
While fishing , I heard a big splash in the pond behind me . I turned around and made a cast to the area , but no takers .
Out of curiosity I shot a cast parallel to the bank toward the drain pipe and was rewarded with a small crappie .
In the next fifteen minutes I caught five to keep the skunk off .
Lure was a brown Trout Magnet with a dyed chartreuse tipped tail .
Nice day for a Crappie Day! Congratulations
