    Default Winter time rainbows

Went out fishing monday on LSL SKUNKED at last place I did well but then next to my toon I got into a mess o green sunfish and then small crappie. But then nada on smaller lake. It was really nice day tho so hooked up with Cap'n crappie and watched him fish while I did like a lizard and soaked up sun on the bank. He caught bunch of small green carp only.

Went back Wed to stop by and see my son and fix weatherstripping for his mom my ex. Gave me reason to go to Busch area and get after the trout they stocked day before.

When I got there bunch of guys already there as it was another perfect warm winter day. That was around 1 and most of these had been there since early morn and only had 1 or 2. One of those days where everyone hates you as I started ketchn from first cast! They all had poles on ground so we're using dough bait and I was using spinner.

I had my limit in about 20 minutes and some real nice ones and I was using my ultralight with 4 lb line. Lot of fun when the crappie aren't cooperating.

Then I called my cabin partner and gave him the heads up on stocking so he went to a lake in STL city and took a neighbor who isn't much of a fishing dude but wanted to try and they had even better day than I. With bigger ones including a big brown and he and the newbie limited out.

Then 2 more buds texted pics of their quick limits.

To cap day off took 3 over to my daughter's hose who lives close by and they love it when dad drops off FRESH fish.Name: 20230215_141115.jpg

real question is why wouldn't you? they were in the hatchery till day before and grew up on trout chow and I can testify they eat as good as they look.

can tell you that everyone bugs me about getting some. didn't make it out for them all winter till yesterday tho.

another ex was jealous as she was at our daughters house when I dropped those off as I usually supply her with a couple every year. My other ex asked for some as well.

Nice bows, they are fun to catch but wish those stocker trout would jump more like the wild trout. It's nice to have them out there when the crappie aren't biting.
