How to Tie a Uni Knot: 12 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow
I switch between the uni and loop knot. I originally preferred the uni because of how much line strength you retain compared to all the other knots. I do like the freedom a loop knot gives the jig head for presentation purposes and I’ve built a lot of confidence in fishing with the loop knot so I may stay with it for a while!

Yeah the uni is an excellent knot to tie. I know for me I used to tie the palomar knot a lot for bass fishing and will still use it occasionally but once I started getting serious with catching crappie the loop knot became my go to knot due to the level of freedom it gives the jig head. I’ve been using it for the past year with my dock shooting and I will say the only thing you gotta watch for is if the jig head eye isn’t completely cinched if there is a gap I have had it slip on me. So I make it a practice to cinch it with my pliers just to make sure but other than that it has held up good with some slab crappie.
Thanks for your input and checking out the video it helps me be patient in between trips to share the little knowledge I have of this great sport.

The Moondog Bait Company produces a variety of panfish baits.
And they have also produced several videos of different knots they recommend.
One of them is a loop knot tied the same way as this video shows it being tied.
Ive used it and it works as well for me as the 3 turn surgeons knot does.
Its simply a matter of what we get more comfortable with tying in my opinion.
I do find that i can tie this loop knot with less wasted line than when i tie the 3 turn surgeons knot.
