Cold fronts affect them. My best action ever has been as the front moves through and for a few hours following it with a cold NW wind. They will bite afterward but look for them to be deeper an hugging structure and don’t expect a frenzy
Ain't got it either... but sure have fun trying to get it!

I guess my perception of being a good crappie ketcher is not so much ketching limits but being able to know enough about the species to find them and pull a few on board. I always enjoy my time on the water regardless but when I go and get skunked it makes me feel like I failed a test I have been studying hard for and start to doubt myself.

A "cold" front does to two things it cools the top of the water which causes them to sit lower in the column for a period of time and it also lessons the pressure which causes them to not feel as good for a period of time. It also makes our old joints hurt more. But they gotta eat. That's when a smaller profile bait and a slower presentation is very important. The answer to where is tough for me because I can't get back in there. That's when you need to rely on your electronics to help you find bait and fish.

if the pits are cutoff and they cant get out, prob find them hugging bottom in the deepest sunshine they can find and lethargic as hell....a jig will have to be insulting in color and hanging in their face to get a hit....or maybe it will be a weird unusual day and they will be on fire contrary to the norm as Ive seen that too. if pits are full deep eddies along the banks or ledges is a good bet but same approach, loud jig, no motion, and maybe a minnow on it.....
