Have you used lateral scale for flash? Great innovation and photography. I'm envious

Just wanted to say thanks for posting the picture of the magnets holding the jigheads, great idea.

Thank you and you are welcome.

Flash is kind of an irritant to me. They tell me ‘just a hint’, but then I see it an want more. I have several kinds and not sure of the names as it is a few years old. Here is what I think I prefer.

As you view it there is a pattern of small rectangles. Crystal flash has balls. To me the rectangles look a little better. The material is very easily damaged. Once kinked it is useless. I will look into your suggestion. Thanks.

I saw a video where a man used a hank of crystal flash. I am using a single strand cut up to make 8 pieces. I lay it along the shank, a few wraps, then ease equal parts down either side and lash down. Pretty easy technique. I used to be frustrated until I figured that out.

Another thing that is worth mentioning is my new adhesive for eyes. Dr Nip recommended it and it works very well. BSI Slow Cure epoxy. A two equal portions epoxy that allows plenty of time to fiddle with eyes. I squirt out a blob, then match that blob with part 2, then mix for a while using a wooden skewer. Then I daub some on the jig head. Once all have some, I use the skewer to stroke the side of the jig. This creates a thin layer that covers the side of the jig. Add eyes and wait.

Once done, the eyes are nicely attached. I cannot get my thumbnail to engage the edge of the eye. Feels as if an overcoat has been applied, even though one has not. Weird but I am very happy I don’t need to coat the eyes as it always steals some of their luster.

I think that is the pink lateral scale flash by Hedron.

Been trying to figure what those bearded jigs remind me of. Certainly look a lot like Oscar's. With all the tropical invasive species in Florida those should be very popular amongst the fish

I am attempting to create a shad profile. As the lure gets trolled, I imagine the lure will then go from Court Jester to Sister Shad. Develop a pot belly. It is a little different I know, but I am kind of liking the idea. Other lures can be more of a minnow shape profile of course, but having some of these might be kind of nice to have aboard. The underspins certainly get something out of their beer belly profile. Why not try ?

I like the idea of sticking with just a few color combinations for now. Proven combinations.

    Pink and White
    Green and Chartreuse
    Purple and Pink
    Purple and Chartreuse

and Mr Crappie’s fine suggestion of a Blue and White.

I also like silvers and greys.

I like hairy jigs, too. Too many colors to chase. Like a hawk diving into a flock of fowl. Easy to miss the tastiest one for being distracted by the one you could never get anyways. Sticking with just a few select color combinations will be helpful. Focus on other things. Don’t waste time choosing odd colors and buying weirdly stuff.

If I am making a mistake, it is having too much material. I need to slim down and choose materials with a little more concern for action, than just the color. Tail, flash, body, belly hair, and head.

I think I should try to go sparse. Let’s see if I can manage that. LOL

See how the belly tucks in to offer the appearance of the shad’s profile. Not perfect, but that is where I am at now. Tail wags and the gut wags. Forgot to put flash in it as I wanted to follow up with the comments.

    Thanks

No need to buy Death Scope for $1500. Buy an underwater drone for half of that and really get to see what is down there. Google it. $800 and you can see just fine.
