Default So I bought a new Garmin on Black Friday, too. lol

Previously I ran an LVS32 with a 93SV plus. I was interested in upgrading to a 126SV, but I chose to get the 106SV instead. I seen where folks said to get the screen closer to your eyes, and so I did, and I loved it. That's partly why I selected the 10" model instead of the 12" I thought the 9" looked better up higher, so the ten would be just fine. And to try to mount a heavier 12" that high would require major hardware.

So a 10" it was, and I would also be upgrading to HD, as the 93sv was not an hd model. cool

This setup is not high enough. I was able to use a 15" arm on a 1" ram mount for the 93sv, but believe it or not, the 106sv weighs seemingly more than twice what the 93sv weighed. So I used a 6" arm on a 1.5 inch ball as you can see. I still have to figure out how to raise it at least a little more IMHO.

Anyway, my first impression is that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the 9" screen. Spending a grand on a ten inch was kinda a waste IMO. I'm OK with it only because I now can do side imaging in HD, and the 106SV easily networks with my old unit. But my advise to anyone out there that feels the need to get a larger screen just for livescoping, take the time to raise it closer to your line of sight first. You might not need to spend the money. Just My Opinion, and who knows, with time it might change.

Here's a neat video of manatee on livescope, on side image, and for real...

Getting my 93sv off the floor higher than my Hook 7 was a priority for me. Luckily I got one of the last Cumberland Crappie extendable mounts (before health problems stopped them being made). I normally leave it "down" which puts the bottom of the unit about 13" above the floor of the boat, but I can raise it to where the bottom of the unit is about 21" above the floor.

I made a d i y mount from an old laptop vehicle mount & attached a scotty mount to the top of it & that put mine 24" above the deck & i still wish it was higher because it hurts my neck at times pretty bad. I'm actually thinking about adding a sliding tube with locking knob to it to bring it up more.

I did the same thing slab and Friday afternoon I was on the water with the 106sv. I literally could not find my jig on the screen, same rigs the 93sv showed fine 2 days prior. I did tweak some settings and have it pretty dialed in by the 2nd trip but this definitely confirmed that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the 93 and it actually might be a bit better livescope picture. I was pretty stoked to watch this one hit on the 106.
