Check the lithium 24 volt batteries from Skinny Water Marine. Great batteries and even better people to deal with. Lithiums are going to be more $$ but well worth it, mine will probably outlive me.
Great people of Crappie.com I need your help/advice for what battery(ies) to get to fit in my boat. I got the Garmin Force (it needs a 24v or 36v battery) and what I have is a 12v (thought was 24v).
This is the area I have to work with. The area size is length 14 3/4" x wide 10 1/4" x height 9 7/8"
Battery inside is a group size 27 deep cycle.
Corner of battery holder extra space
I do not know what type, size, how many etc. to put there to make it work reasonably well for my Force trolling motor. I would like a good battery but also don't want tell my wife I need a battery that is ~a mortgage payment!
If it helps, this is a 02 Lund Explorer 1675 SS
I really appreciate your time and help!!

Thank you! How many AH do you have? How many do you suggest?

I would go with the 100Ah. It’s dimensions are too big for your battery area (20.5”L x9.5”W x 8.5″H).The 60Ah dimensions are (13.6”L x6.75”W x 8.5″H) and should work just fine. Here is the link 24V 60AH Lithium Deep Cycle Lithium Marine Battery
Hope this helps.

Your gonna need to go with a lithium battery (more expensive) or find a place for another 12 volt battery like the one you have pictured.

You've got 2 choices- either find a place to fit 2 12 volt ones like you have and link them together (in series) or plan on spending $1000+ for one lithium battery to fit your existing compartment!

A question popped up while reading your thread, is your existing wiring up to handling the 24 volt load from the TM?

If it's the original wiring, it's 20 years old. And sized for a 12 volt. Boat manufacturers just got by with as small a wire as they could. Garmin should have a chart that shows the recommended wire size, based on draw and length of wire.
I used a Minn Kota chart for my TM wiring up grade to 24 volts. Get marine grade wire, and circuit breaker rated for the amp draw.
I think my old wire was 10 gauge, and I replaced it with either 6 or 4 gauge wire for a 16 foot run. I can't remember exactly off the top of my head.

I see a problem that no one has mentioned, l think. Your 12 volt battery has items hooked to it now so you will still need a 12 volt battery. Also, if using 2 batteries in series, it is not recommended to use one to feed 12 volt items while using 24 volts for a trolling motor. If a 12 volt 55 pound trolling motor is pulling say 50 amps on high, a 24 volt 55 pound trolling motor will be pulling 25 amps so smaller wire will work. I run my 80 pound Terrova on #6 because that was what l had on hand but 8 or 10 would work. I would go with 8 or 6 gauge as 10 is pushing it. Don
