Fried, I can’t tell diff. When schooled up Blacks are more finicky and harder to catch. I do like pulling Blacks our when their Jet Black

black crappie meat is much firmer than white crappie , has a faint bream like flavor , white crappie has near zero fish flavor and is very soft .
of course that is based on fresh well kept fish , not the lay in bottom of the box washed out eyes jobs ....
as far as ketchn them , they all make me smile , big or small , white or black , makes no never mind to me

Depends on the time of year here. Doesn’t matter in early spring but the blacks in summer are nice and firm while the whites are skinny and mushy. In the fall, the white crappie are bigger, thicker and bite more aggressively. They’re putting on the weight for eggs and are firmer. For eating them, blacks in summer and whites in fall but they both are delicious.
