That surely is hot. Nice bowl of fillets
Is when we said that is likely the limit !
At 108 outside it gets a bit toasty on the brain matter and you start to resemble a full water cooler as you can't seem to drink enough water to keep up with the amounts of water leaving your body !
But someone has to do it , and no one else will be out there trying to ketch fish . Heck we hit em at 4 different ponds and lakes just for good measure as well . We were after whatever wanted to play and of course some crappie got in on the challenge and some fat red ear sunfish and bass and nice size bluegill and hybrid sunnies too.
It was mostly a kid ketchn episode though and of course mom and I sort of just helped them ketch fish . We used jigs and worms and crappie nibbles . We mostly used floats and mom opted for her new favorite 10 foot lil jewel B n M rod and when she couldn't reach them without a reel , she just went into the wade out to a big rock and ketch them from a perch if you will .....
we hit clear water and mud water and everything in between and about 20 assorted fish got to ride home to visit the knife . Not sure how many we actually ketched , but likely in the well over a hundred fish pretty easily , the kids wore down the sunfish early and the crappie bit off and on at 2 of the spots we hit.
Most of the fish were in fairly shallow water at 4 to 8 feet deep . Managed to chase down a small softshell turtle during the excursion and saw a few deer and a whistling tree duck and of course hit the big lake for a swim after lunch .
Good times for sure .....
KABOOM is the word EVEN at 108 outside ....

Yeah I’d had to get a little wet too. That’s miserable temps. Good job staying with it.

Glad you got out!
Never seen a whistling tree duck.
Those soft shells eat good when they are a little bigger.
Stay hydrated my friend. It’s a long ways to October from here!

On brighter note I did get my Archery edition from BassPro. Fall is on its way. Days will start getting shorter in less than two weeks.

have missed several opportunities to capture one in an image , they are super cool ducks , look like a cross between a duck and a small goose , with long legs and can land in a tree and whistle in a different tone that is recognizable quite often too ....
the plumage on them is to die for , the backs of the wings are snow white and the body is a dark brownish color with burnt red breasts and neck areas ,,,,right attractive water fowl for sure ....
mostly stay in the south Texas regions ,but we see more and more of them every year in the west of ft worth range , have been known to flock up in groups under deer feeders ,seen that a time or 2 as well .....
