I use the uni to uni on my bass setups also but my dad has a hard time with it slipping a lot also. Never really compared how we tie them but i think i am putting a few more wraps in them. Not 100% sure but i will ask him next week when i see him. He puts me to shame when we fish, 68 year old man stomping around the river in his hip boots and my 48 year old fat behind trying to keep up lol.

Great tool, Chet! Your knot is not exactly an Alberto, which I like. Your knot looks like an Albright. But the tool could be easily used to tie the Alberto knot also. I am going to rig something similar up. Looks like the bullet was machined. I don’t have that capability.

    Thanks again,
    Danny

    Hello Dan

the tool is not a rocket science, a simple 6mm bullet 90 or 100gr works nice, i made a simple jig, i drill the end about the same diameter as the spring, epoxy it in there and you are done, i do have a lathe also, no need if the hole is off center a little the fish don't care LOL, i probably made 30 or 40 over the last 2 years, when some of the fisherman get talking about braid to mono, i give them a demo and they love it.

Was digging through my tackle box and found some drop shot weights. They look like they will work well. The Alberto uses 6 turns down, then another 8 turns back up towards the loop. This will take a little practice but I think it will work out.

    Thanks, Chet…

    Correction -
The Alberto uses 8 turns down, then another 8 turns back up towards the loop.

For some unknown reason I can’t edit the post above.

I’ve never tied the Alberto using 4lb test.
    ( won’t work/ isn’t needed where I fish)
But I did find something that works for me to help tie the Alberto- Try this trick -

I temporarily pinch a small lead shot to the end of the line to spin it and get the 8 wraps up and 8 back down.
The tension from the split shot makes it easier and faster.
Try it it may work on the small line.
