Looks like your staying on them, good job ! I sure do like the looks of the older St Croix Panfish over the newer version. I have a 5'4" and the 6'9", I love the 5'4 but the 6'8 is a noodle !!

The forecast called for sunny but windy , 15-20mph and gusty , with a big front headed our way .
Prayers go out to those states who experienced this front during the daylight hours where it was the most dangerous.
Hopefully when it gets to us tonight and early tomorrow morning, our area will be more stabilized. But they are predicting winds up to 60mph .
Today I received both my 5’4” St. Croix Ultralight rods , one Panfish series, and a Trout series.
I picked the Panfish series today to face the wind .
Paired with a Shimano Nasci 500 reel, spooled with 4# P-line Original . A variegated green chartreuse spider tied to a loop about 16” above a 1/16 drop shot weight .
The wind didn’t disappoint.
I hide behind the bridge at the town pond trying to block off as much wind as I could .
Using this rod today , I remember why I loved them so much . To me , it’s the perfect UL spinning rod and the most sensitive rod I’ve owned .
I’m glad the insurance covered their damage and glad I replaced them .
The shellcracker have been dominate as of late and this evening I caught three decent size ones that put up a heck of a fight on this little rod .
My only disappointment today was my Shimano Nasci reel . With the largest cracker it almost froze up when trying to wind it with a load on it .
It was replaced with a Daiwa Legalis lt1000 when I got home .
Three fish , in a little over an hours fishing , in the wind , I call it a fun trip challenging trip .
Man, I wish I could find some red ears! Tons of fun. Congrats.

Good report and interesting comment on your 500 size reel. I have a Sedona 500 which served me very well on all fish last year, but now my Legalis 1000 has become my queen of the hop. Very nice and smooth - now I just need a variety of fish to put it to the test.
Bob
Yes Bob , I’ve had issues with the newer 500 size Shimano reels . Some , not all , will bind up when a load is applied .
I like the weight and size of the 500 on some of my ultralights . There is a half ounce weight difference between the Nasci 500 and a Daiwa Legalis 1000lt .
I guess I’m going to have to learn to live with that extra half ounce .
