Jessie and I went this morning for about 3 hours to get a few more fish for tomorrow’s fry. Started while it was still dark fishing under bridge lights and got a few and added a few more after sunup. Total was 5 crappie and 5 good gills. As predicted, Jessie liked the TSS and the new reel and steadily put fish in the boat. I used it some and like it a lot, a great lightweight combo that I’m very pleased with. The reel worked smooth, flipped the bail dependably and the drag was flawless. I guess I’m frugal to a fault, hate to spend lots of money for most anything and second m guess myself after the fact. Maybe buyers remorse? None here for anything related to this. I have other good reels, mostly Presidents, but you can feel the difference between this and any of those including the one that’s two months old. I just may need another one day soon. Thanks for following along everyone. This isn’t one of the better reels y’all talk of often but it’s a good un for the money.

Fish what you like and feel comfortable with $ wise, Skeet. This sounds like a real nice combo and you may have to invest in a TCB sooner than later! LOL Your daughter knows a good combo when she fishes it!

I prefer high speed for river trout and so do most others. For slow deeper water or lakes then the lower speeds are fine.

I went to the salt this past Saturday and had a few rods with me. One is a 3000 size with a 5.2 ratio and my new Diawa Regal LT 2500 in the mix. I noticed the difference in the ability to reel back in quick for another cast. The 5.2 was very different speed wise. For over there I the bigger reels, I’ll be getting higher ratio reels. The Regal 1000 is a perfect match for the TSS and it’s 5.2 ratio is just fine for where and how I fish. If I find another with the higher gears for a fair price I will probably own it too. Very nice and smooth for my needs. Thanks to all for following this thread.

Hey Skeet, bringing this back up I like how you roll! It inspired me to purchase one today! I was thinking about the Pfluger you have commented on, but your review changed my mind.

Well as luck would have it the Dawia Regal 1000 I ordered was cancelled due to lack of inventory. I found a Regal 2000 and specs look the same.
Can anyone tell me difference?
Size of spool and line capacity, also the 2000 weighs 7/10 of an ounce more.
